Godfrey man accused of beating stepson with curtain rod, belt

GODFREY, IL (KTVI)-A Godfrey, Illinois is accused of beating his six-year-old stepson with a belt and a curtain rod. Jessie Garcia, also called “JJ” is charged with aggravated child battery.

Police say school employees at West Elementary School in Alton found an unusually large number of bruises on the boy’s body.

Police say Garcia hit him after the child got in trouble for standing up on the school bus.

    Sound familiar? Most of us especially babyboomers were hit by belts and paddles, and small branches from the tree, and we all survived. That is what a rear end is for. I don’t condone a total body beating by any means but no one died from a beating across the backside.
