ST. LOUIS, MO (KPLR) – It was a disappointing ending to the season for the St. Louis Blues.  The Chicago Blackhawks clinched the first round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs with a 5 to 1 win over the Blues on Sunday evening.

Many Blues fans opted to watch the game on the big screen at Ballpark Village.  For these fans, Sunday’s loss is especially a letdown because the team had one of the best records in the NHL, heading into April, and because the Blues initially led this series 2 to 0. But then the Blackhawks won four games in a row, causing great disappointment in St. Louis.

Blues fan Krissy Green says, “I thought we would come out fighting, I thought we had a chance. But we gave it up.”

Lifelong Blues fan Sam Kaemmerer, who has a blue note and Curtis Joseph inked on his arm, is still trying to stay positive: “I’m a little upset about the loss, but you know, whatever. Next season always.”

And he isn’t the only one. With the Blues’ strong core of veterans, up and coming stars, and passionate local ownership, many fans see a Stanley Cup coming to St. Louis sooner rather than later.

Olivia Schornheuser says, “It’s disappointing, but there’s always next year.  We’ll come back.”
