Alvin Ailey American Dancers discuss partnership on and off the stage

ST. LOUIS, MO (KPLR) - It’s one of the most popular and iconic dance companies in the world. The Alvin Ailey Dance Company has changed the face of American dance since 1958 with their breathtaking moves. The elegant and athletic dancers have performed for 23 million people in 71 countries on 6 continents. Their mission: To promote the uniqueness of the African-American cultural experience and preserve the American modern dance tradition. Their flawless efforts remain timeless.

Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater ranks among the few companies today recognizable simply by name or picture. Antonio and Kirven Douhit-Boyd became the company's first pair of same-sex dancers to marry when they tied the knot last June.

You can see the Douhit-Boyds dance tonight. The Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater hits the stage at 8pm Friday and Saturday at the Fox Theatre.
