ST. LOUIS, MO (KPLR) - People are making fun of Missouri lawmakers for considering an idea to make jumping jacks Missouri's state exercise. I know there is more important business to do but there's nothing wrong with also having some fun.

We have a state fossil, state bird, state animal, state aquatic animal and so on. So what harm can a state exercise do?

Missouri born general, "Black Jack" Pershing is credited for introducing the jumping jack to West Point cadets in the 1800's.

The idea for making jumping jacks the state exercise came from Pershing Elementary students in St. Joseph.

I hope they get their way. I know I could use some exercise.
