ST. LOUIS, MO (KTVI) – It was not the way that people working out at south St. Louis gym wanted to start their day. They came out to find their cars broken into.

It appears thieves hit at least three different south city gyms in less than a half an hour early Wednesday morning.

The St. Louis Fitness Club on Hampton and Potomac was one of those hit. There were three big piles of glass in the lot earlier before a worker cleaned them up.

St. Louis police got the call around 6:00am Wednesday. An employee says three cars were broken into on the lot. You could see items on the ground outside of some of the cars.

There are surveillance cameras on this lot, which may have captured the crime as it went down.

Right before this call, police responded to Blast Fitness on Jefferson and Lafayette, where more cars were broken into. Some of the victims there were emotional when they came out to see their trucks and cars. We counted at least three cars hit at that location.

Finally, minutes after getting to St. Louis Fitness Club, police got another call for a car broken into at nearby club fitness in Hampton Village.

Police on the scene say they believe the same suspects may be behind all of the break ins. They are described at this point as two males in a dark grey Grand Prix.

Police went to other area fitness clubs as a precaution after the break ins.
