CLAYTON, MO (KTVI)-- There were birthday wishes Wednesday night to William Shakespeare. St. Louisans are celebrating by paying tribute to all 38 of his plays.

Students at Clayton High School staged selections from Henry IV Part Two Wednesday afternoon.

Want to be Broadway actors understand how important Shakespeare has been to the theater world.

Folks are interpreting the bard`s work anyway they want from now through the weekend. Shakespeare would have turned 450 Wednesday. And at Shakespeare Festival headquarters they threw a party. This is the group that puts on Shakespeare in the park every summer. They even had a cake for the playwright.

If you`re going to Shakespeare in the park this summer they`re putting on two productions Henry IV and Henry V. The same 22 actors are doing both shows from night to night.

In the backroom, costumers are preparing the wardrobe for all the actors who will take the stage in May. This year the costumes are more of what Shakespeare would be accustomed too.
