BADEN, ONTARIO – Trips to the spa. A steak dinner with all the trimmings. Photo shoots. Ice cream. Cake. Beer.

All of these are items on a “bucket list”. But this is not an ordinary list for a terminal patient. It’s a list for a family pet in Canada.

Looking at 12-year-old Roxy you’d never know she was dying from cancer, but after recently suffering two violent seizures that’s exactly the sad news her family was given.

The Ellig family was devastated. They brought Roxy home when the chocolate lab was just eight weeks old.

To keep her happy in her finals days, they put together a bucket list and started living out each one.

Mom Tracy Ellig explains, “She’s given us 12 years of a lot of fun so we want to try to send her out with that as well.”

Some of the things Roxy has done so far have been a private day at a dog spa, complete with a soak in a whirlpool, a doggie cake, a photo shoot, apple fritters, and even some beer.

The family created a Facebook page for Roxy’s bucket list and have been getting support from across Canada and around the world.

They don’t know how much longer they have with Roxy, but are sharing every minute they can with her – and sharing the items they check off that list with their new friends online.
