Police searching for suspect in Belleville home invasion

BELLEVILLE, IL (KTVI)-- Police are looking for a suspect wanted in a home investigation Tuesday morning.

At least 2 women were in the home on South Jackson Street when they were awakened by a man banging on the door. One of the women opened the door. The suspected forced his way inside. He displayed a knife and demanded money and drugs according to one of the women.   Police describe the suspect as a white male with tattoos on his neck and chest.

He was unshaven with acne scars on his face. The suspect was wearing a dark colored hoody when he fled.

Sgt. Heffernan says residents will see increased patrols in the area as the investigation continues. The suspect was seen heading west from the residence and crossed the railroad tracks in the direction of Illinois Highway 159.

No one was injured in the incident. Anyone with information is asked to call Belleville police.
