St. Louis (KPLR) – St. Louis County Police recently cracked a stolen car case by going on the internet and looking on Craigslist.

According to court documents, the car owner reported to police she started her car during a cold day in early March and left it running with the keys inside and the doors unlocked. When she came out of her home a few minutes later, the car was gone. Police were summoned, and eventually traced the car through an ad on Craigslist.

The e-mail address listed for the car ad lead police to 21-year-old Aubrey Watkins of St. Louis City. Police found Watkins and say he told them he had purchased the car from a friend and knew it was stolen. He’s now charged with felony tampering of a motor vehicle.
