ST. LOUIS, MO (KTVI)-- A cross country run that started in California and is slated to end in Boston on the anniversary of last year's marathon bombing will make its way through St. Louis by the end of the day Thursday.

For many the world stopped last April. People just sat in awe of what they were seeing on TV

It is a day that will live in infamy. But even people who watched events unfold overseas knew they wanted to help the victims affected by the bombing.

Last year they were able to raise $91,000 and this year they want to raise a million. And with runners running constantly around the clock, the sky is the limit.

One St. Louisan getting involved was imperative. Mary Hoatlin found out about One Run for Boston on a Facebook page last year but it's the running community and the victims of the Boston Marathon that are her motivation now.

It's a small relay for runners across the country that help Boston stay strong as we head toward the one year anniversary of the bombing on April 15th, 2013.
