ST. LOUIS, MO (KTVI)-- It's been a very cruel winter and it sounds like it's not over just yet, but some very welcome weather on this 2nd official day of spring.

A lot of schools are on spring break this week, so the timing of this great weather couldn't have worked out better.

Lots of families headed to the zoo. Many wanted to go to the zoo, well just getting there was a zoo.

There was a lot of traffic to the zoo around 2:30 p.m. Friday. Those trying to avoid the traffic jam spent their time at the park golfing, jogging, biking, or just being lazy on this beautiful day.

Fox 2 even found someone flying a kite and some fisherman.

They may have all been doing different activities, but they all had one thing in common, they are so over the cold weather.

Fox 2 thinks some folks also got word of the extended forecast so they wanted to make sure they took advantage of Friday's weather.

This weekend there will be a big temperature drop with highs in the mid 40's and 50's.
