FLORISSANT, MO (KTVI) – One man is in the hospital after a police pursuit in north St. Louis County.

Police from Florissant responded to an armed bank robbery at the US Bank in the 2100 block of North Lindbergh around 10:15am Wednesday. An employee gave them a description of the vehicle the suspect was seen driving and police quickly located it.

The vehicle was driving southbound on northbound Lindbergh when it hit the center divider near Interstate 270.

A police spokesman says police officers from both Florissant and Hazelwood were in the process of surrounding the car after the accident when they heard one gunshot from inside the vehicle. They cautiously approached and opened the door to find a man inside who suffered a gunshot wound to his head.

A gun and money from the bank robbery were also found inside the vehicle.

The suspect was taken to an area hospital. His condition is not known.

The police spokesman says no shots were fired by the police officers.

Southbound Lindbergh was shut down for about an hour during the police investigation.
