EDWARDSVILLE, IL (KPL) -- On the day before primary day in Illinois, 2 of the republican candidates for governor made campaign stops in the Metro East.

Private Equity Investor Bruce Rauner made a campaign stop inside an Edwardsville restaurant.  State Senator Kirk Dillard made a stop at the St. Louis Regional Airport in East Alton.  A poll conducted by We Ask America showed Rauner and Dillard are leading State Senator Bill Brady and State Treasurer Dan Rutherford.

Here`s a look at the poll of likely GOP voters.

Dillard toured the state with former Governor Jim Edgar.  Dillard was Edgar`s chief of staff.  Dillard vowed to cut spending and cited statistics from Governor Edgar`s term as proof.   Dillard has also received support from several labor organizations.  Some labor groups are upset with Gov. Pat Quinn`s pension reforms.  Dillard has said the support shows he`ll be able to work with both parties to help solve Illinois` problems.

Rauner has promised to bring a team of 30 business superstars from the private sector and bring them to Springfield to help solve Illinois` problems.   He promised to make government more transparent, efficient and efficient.   Rauner has also pushed term limits and believes that will help create better government.

Candidates State Senator Bill Brady and Treasurer Dan Rutherford did not campaign in the Metro East Monday.  Brady has touted his voting record as a consistent conservative.  Rutherford is the only candidate who has won a statewide race.  His campaign suffered a major blow when he was targeted by a sexual harassment lawsuit from male employee.

Polls in Illinois open Tuesday at 6 a.m. and close at 7p.m.
