TROY, IL (KTVI) - For the third time in two weeks, police are looking for a man who approached a child trying to get the youngster into his vehicle.

The latest case was reported in Troy, Illinois.  Police say the target was a 9-year-old girl.  It happened Sunday afternoon.

The child was walking north on Riggin Road away from the Dollar General store around 4:20 p.m.  A man in a black panel van approached her and first asked if she needed a ride.  When she said no, he told her to "just get in the van."

The girl did not and made it home safely.  The driver is described as an older black man wearing a black t-shirt and a skullcap.  The van had no windows in the rear or passenger side door.

Just last week in two different St. Charles County communities, police investigated two incidents where a young man wearing a ball cap reportedly tried to lure a total of three children into his car.  He offered them candy.  In one case he was driving a pick up truck, in the other a car.
