EXCELSIOR SPRINGS, MO (WDAF) – A woman who was taking a nap while her children were at school is recovering after a man broke into her home and attacked her Monday.

Tiffany Yelton, 43, is now in the hospital recovering. She called 911 as soon as she got away from her home. She told police a young man climbed in through a rear bedroom window, broke a whiskey bottle and attacked her on the face, neck, head, arms and legs.

Every time she tried to get away, he pulled her back inside and stabbed her again.

Yelton’s mother said one of the slashes was less than an inch from her jugular. She has more than 40 stitches in her neck alone. Doctors had to cut off her ear in order to properly re-attach it.

Police are searching for the suspect.
