USA’s Ligety wins gold in giant slalom

(CNN) — U.S. skier Ted Ligety became the first American to win a gold medal in Olympic men’s giant slalom.

Ligety, 29, recorded a time of 2 minutes, 45.29 seconds at the Sochi Winter Olympics on Wednesday

Steve Missillier and Alexis Pinturault, both of France, won the silver and bronze medals respectively.
