ST. LOUIS, MO (KTVI)-- We`re all invited to a birthday party, a yearlong one as St. Louis celebrates its 250th anniversary.

You`ve probably heard the names of Pierre Laclede and Auguste Chouteau identified as the city`s founders.

But Fox 2`s Betsey Bruce reports without the efforts of women, white and black, St. Louis might never have out-grown its  'trading post' origins.
