ST. LOUIS, MO (KPLR) – An explosion and fire has been reported at a location in Soulard. The Saint Louis Fire Department is responding to the fire at the intersection of Shenandoah Ave. & Menard Streets. Police say the fire was caused by a natural gas explosion. They say that the leak is still active.

A witness at the scene says that AT&T was installing a fiber line when they hit a gas main. People in the building were ordered to evacuate. Bret Schnitker, president of Star Designs, says that there were two to three explosions after that. He says there are no injuries reported. Everyone got out of the building safely.

Fire crews are on the scene and have asked for a warming bus to help people who have been evacuated. Plumes of thick grey smoke can be seen coming from the building.
