CLAYTON, MO (KTVI) – The St. Louis County Police Department Board is expected to name a replacement for Chief Tim Fitch during an 8:00am meeting Friday.

Fitch is retiring after a 34-year law enforcement career. He was named Chief in 2009.

“It’s an exciting time for my family, and for this agency,” Fitch said during a retirement party Thursday.

The front runners include three lieutenant colonels on the police force: Kenneth Cox, Kenneth Gregory and Jon Belmar.

Cox is the commander of the St. Louis County Division of Criminal Investigations.

Gregory runs the St. Louis County Patrol Division.

Belmar runs the St. Louis County Division of Special Operations.

Chief Fitch said one of the hardest parts of his job was investigating murders.  There were 20 murders in St. Louis County in 2013.
