MARYLAND HEIGHTS, MO (KTVI)-- The Hollywood Casino in Maryland Heights has been open for more than a year, but the owners are inviting you to see its makeover.

The Hollywood Casino is betting $62 million they will win the casino war in St. Louis.

That is how much it cost for the major renovation of what used to be Harrah's Casino.  The owners thought with a new name should come a new look.  The $62 million renovation has taken a year and Thursday they unveiled the new colorful, high tech transformation.  Customers can enjoy big screen TVs and tablets for entertainment.

Hollywood has completely renovated the casino floor with more than 70 table games and 2,100 slots and video poker machines.  The St. Louis favorite Charlie Gitto's restaurant is still there, but other menus have been changed, and two new restaurants are open.  The owners call it a first class culinary experience.

The Hollywood Casino also has a smoke free area.

Still smells overwhelming strong of cigarette smoke well before arriving at casino floor, the escalators and turnstile entry doors are frequently out of order, most machines are old and dusty (Inside reels), and there remain too few attendants on the floor to help with machine malfunctions. Its still the same old casino…new name.
