ST. LOUIS (KPLR) – All 16 YMCA branches in the St. Louis area will join forces starting January 27th through February 21st to collect used shoes for Shoeman Water Projects. Shoeman Water Projects is a non-for-profit that collects used shoes from around the nation, exporting the shoes to developing countries, for sale to the general public.

Money derived from exporting the shoes goes to funding clean water projects around the globe, aiding in economic development, and improving the public’s health.

Shoes can be dropped at any YMCA branch, and can be any type of shoe, except for shoes with holes. Shoes should be tied, rubber-banded or bagged before placing them into collection bins in YMCA lobbies.
