UNIVERSITY CITY, MO (KTVI)-- It's described by organizers as one of the best days of the year in the loop, the Ice Carnival. It begins with a 10 a.m. 5k and 10k race and wraps up at midnight after a day of games, music and photo opportunities.  It's a day for folks to leave the indoors behind and embrace winter, and there are activities for everyone.

"There will be human dog races where people compete with 4 dogs and one rider, tattoo scavenger hunts, and ice carving with chain saws," says Joe Edwards.

Professional skateboarders will take over the roof of the Moonrise Hotel and golf lovers can slice their way to area pubs and restaurants with Putt, Putt Pub Crawl.

Joe Edwards is really diving into his role ascarnival promoter by skydiving Friday for the very first time.

"Red Bull is flying in their air force team, really experienced team, and I'll tantrum jump with them.  From 1,200 hundred feet, I don't know," he stated.
The carnival also offers great food and drinks including hot chocolate and a smores roast.   There will also be carnival performers and price specials at dozens of unique U-city stores.

This is the 9th year for the Ice Carnival. Kicking off the event is the Snowball Festival Friday night at the Moonrise Hotel.   Come dressed to impress!   The most creative winter themed costume winners will be crowned snow king and queen and will win nights stay at the Moonrise Hotel.
