(KPLR) – In Monday’s “The Way It Oughta Be”, is it time to throw away trash talking?

I don't know if you've watched much football lately.  It seems to me there is much more trash talking than years past.

It makes me think about a great story Hall of Fame outfielder Dave Winfield tells.  Some of today's players should listen.

Winfield grew up admiring Cardinals Hall of Fame pitcher Bob Gibson.  When Winfield met Gibson for the first time, Gibson wouldn't even acknowledge Winfield.  They were on separate teams.  Enemies don't talk to each other.

Now it seems that's all sports opponents do.  They talk smack instead of playing the sport.

Maybe there should be a new penalty in football.  The ref could signal, penalty on the offense, number 85 for too much talking.

I'm JB, and that's “The Way It Oughta Be”.
