(KTVI) - We are very much in the midst of the flu season and it hasn't even peaked yet.  Some local flu patients are in ICU in St. Louis and multiple deaths have also been reported.

Dr. Steven Lawrence, an infectious disease physician from Barnes-Jewish Hospital, talks about the latest flu outbreak.

Nine patients ranging in age from their mid-20s to mid-60s have died from flu-related illness at Barnes-Jewish Hospital.  There have been 320 cases of influenza diagnosed at Barnes-Jewish, with an average of 10 to 12 new cases daily.
