(KTVI) - Heat Up St. Louis says this is the worst winter since the organization was founded 14 years ago.

Founder Gentry Trotter explained to John Pertzborn this has been one of the most demanding mornings for people who are elderly, disabled and who have low or no income.

St. Louis police, the mayor, and the St. Louis County Executive have all been tweeting the number where you can help: 314-241-7668

More than $41,200 has been raised since before Christmas, but with these brutally cold conditions, more is needed.

With these sustained bitter cold temperatures invading the St. Louis region, remember you can help your neighbors who have trouble heating their homes.

Heat Up St. Louis is also looking for volunteers for the 14th annual "Hardees Rise and Shine for Heat" happening Friday, February 14.
