ST. LOUIS, MO (KTVI)-- The Missouri Department of Transportation will have 230 snow plows removing snow in the St. Louis District starting at 7 p.m. Saturday.

A major snow storm is expected to sweep through the area Saturday.

The snow removal crews will be working 12 hour shifts until the roads are clear.

They will focus on the interstates.

They are asking people to stay off the roads if possible.

It is a request most will honor.

"I am staying inside once it starts," Gwen McGeee said. "I may go to church Sunday, but if it is bad I won't."

Whitania Kimble said the same thing.

"No, I will not be outside," she said. "My kids and I will be at home."
