BRIDGETON, MO (KTVI) – There were some scary moments early Monday morning for a Bridgeton convenience store clerk after when he was robbed and forced to lay down behind the register.

The Circle K store is located on Lindbergh, near the old Northwest Plaza. The robbery happened a little after 2:30am Monday.

Bridgeton police say the clerk, an adult man, didn’t realize the robber had come into the store. The clerk had just made a deposit and had his head down doing paperwork.

Investigators say the robber made his way behind the counter and stuck something against the clerk’s back, which he believed was a gun.

Police say the robber told the clerk to open the register, but the clerk told the suspect there was no money in it because of the recent deposit.

The suspect got less than $100 before leaving the store.

The robber told the clerk to lie down on the floor before leaving. The clerk was not hurt.

Police describe the suspect as a white man around 5’7” tall.

He was wearing a ski mask with the eyes and nose cut out, a black hoodie with black pants, black shoes and black gloves.

Police are reviewing surveillance video.

This same clerk was also robbed at knifepoint in March.

He was not hurt then either.
