(KTVI) – Thousands will be flying home for the holidays this week. That means long security lines and heading to the airport earlier.

But there is a way to make the best use of your time.

An app called WhatsBusy displays an estimated wait time for security at major airports. That allows you to gauge how long you’ll have to wait almost down to the minute.

WhatsBusy gets its data from the TSA, then forecasts wait times through an algorithm.

There’s also an app called FAA Wait. It alerts you to delays and cancellations.

Some who use both, say the apps make traveling easier.
