ST. LOUIS, MO (KTVI) - If you are shipping your holiday gifts and cards today, you will have a lot of company.  This could be the busiest day of the year for the United States Postal Service.

We are just nine days out from Christmas.  That means the rush is on.

Workers are bracing for 607-million cards and letters to come through post offices across the country.  That is almost double the national daily average.

We are in what the service calls the gateway district.  Workers here are waiting for more than 4-million cards and letters.

Again, this is could be the busiest day mailing day for customers.  December 19, 2013 could be the busiest delivery day for workers.  So how do you make sure your package of holiday cheer makes it to your loved ones on-time?  Try to get to your local post office early.  Also, you could also stop by your computer.  The post office will let you order boxes and print printing labels online.  You can also call.
