MASCOUTAH, IL (KTVI) - A man is dead, and another is being questioned by police after he was found with the body.

Mascoutah police say it all started around 8:40 p.m. Monday on East Church Street.

Police got a call to check on the victim because his family and friends hadn't seen him since Thanksgiving, but his truck was in the drive way.

Police knew the victim had recently let another man live with him to give him shelter and possibly find him a job.

When authorities couldn't find the victim or the other man, they brought a friend with a key to the home around 10:30 p.m.   That's when they found the victim dead on the floor and the other man lying on the couch.

He was taken into custody and is considered a suspect.

The 59-year-0ld victim may have been dead for more than a day, authorities say.   There are also reportedly obvious signs of trauma to the body.

Mascoutch police plan to release more details during a news conference Tuesday morning.
