ST. LOUIS, MO (KPLR) - A 3rd grader is being called a hero for saving his uncle's life.   When Jesse Dixon got home from Highland Elementary School on Monday, he heard smoke alarms sounding but got no answer when he knocked on the door.

Jesse ran back to school where he told the principal and secretary that his house was on fire. The secretary called 911 while the principal took Jesse back to his home.

When the fire department arrived, they broke down the door and found Jesse's uncle asleep while the house was filling with smoke.

Jesse was presented with an award Tuesday morning from the fire department for his quick thinking.
