(KTVI) - Three weather elements are coming in to play over the next few days, resulting in a major drop in temperature and the first hit of winter weather.

First, an arctic cold front arrives around noon on Wednesday. This will bring clouds and dropping afternoon temperatures, and maybe a few sprinkles. The warmest part of the day will be Wednesday morning.

Thursday, the first of two impulses of energy will come out of the southwest with sleet and snow for Thursday afternoon and evening. A few inches are possible.

Then there will be a break. The second wave from the southwest comes in Friday morning and afternoon with all snow. A few inches are possible this time, too.

The key element is deep cold Wednesday night into next week.

This is a very dynamic situation, so please stay up to date at least once or twice a day.
