MAPLEWOOD, MO (KTVI) – Troika Brodsky is the king of collectors when it comes to the Lord of the Rings.

“This is actually what they consider a hero propand it's used for close upsand it's actually metal,” says collector Troika Brodsky handing over an axe.  “It's really, really heavy if you want to check that out.”

Besides director Peter Jackson, Brodsky is the largest private collector of LOTR, I mean, Lord of the Rings, memorabilia.

“Uh, it's been about ten years of pretty consistent detective work, tracking down people who worked on the films and looking for stuff that the studio released officially,” explains says Brodsky.  “So a lot of hard work.”

His acumen as an accumulator began with comic books as a kid. He then succeeded to Star Wars toys and props as he got older.

“It comes through the DNA,” says Brodsky. “My Father was also a collector.  My Dad put together the largest collection in the world of William Faulkner manuscripts and documents.”

Beverly Hills-based Julien's Auctions is handling next week's lord of all sales that's expected to bring $1.2 million.

“What is the nerdiest thing that you have?” asks Patrick Clark.

“The nerdiest thing,” says Brodsky.  “I mean it's all really, really nerdy.”

The king of collectors is willing to take the sting, when he rids himself of the rings and all the props that come with the movie trilogy.

“We found out my Father was ill this year,” says Brodsky. “I very much want to get married this year.  I'm very in love.  We talk about it all the time, so priorities change.”

Like Gandalf himself said, "All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given to us.”

The auction will be held on December 5. You can register now at:
