Kirkwood teacher awarded Peabody education award

KIRKWOOD, MO. (KTVI) – Kirkwood teacher Kimbely Rappold was surprised Tuesday morning with $1000 and being named a Peabody Energy Leaders in Education award. She was presented a giant check for $1000, while teaching at North Glendale Elementary School in the Kirkwood School District.

As she accepted the award, here students cheered in support.

Rappold is a special education teacher, who has dedicated herself to helping children with various disabilities. She takes it upon herself to working closely with student’s parents and making house calls to aid students and parents in educating her students.

Peabody Energy Leaders in Education program rewards educators who go above and beyond in helping and serving student in their education.

An awards gala will be held at the end of the school year to honor all awardees. One person will be awarded $5,000.
