SPRINGFIELD, IL. (KTVI) - Illinois lawmakers back on the job for the state of the annual fall veto session.  Among the issues under consideration, a same sex marriage bill.

Hundreds of activists turned out for a marriage equality rally in Springfield. Senator Dick Durbin and Governor Pat Quinn are among those supporting the bill.

The senate passed a bill last spring, but it stalled in the house because backers said they didn't have enough support.

Opponents of gay marriage will gather Wednesday for defend marriage lobby day.

Illinois would become the 14th state to adopt a same-sex marriage bill.
