ST. LOUIS, MO (KTVI) - The clock has run out for Congress -- the Federal Government has gone into a partial shutdown Tuesday.

Congressional Republicans and Democrats failed to pass a budget bill by the midnight deadline.   Now federal workers in St. Louis are getting furloughed and won't be getting a paycheck.

National parks and monuments across the country are closed because of the shutdown. Signs are up telling anyone who comes to the Gateway Arch that it's closed because of the government shutdown.

Seventy-five workers from the Arch and nearby Old Courthouse will be furloughed.  The Union representing federal workers began holding a protest Tuesday morning at the Federal Center on Goodfellow.
