JEFFERSON CITY, MO (KTVI)– A fully loaded gun was found inside a men’s restroom at the Missouri State Capitol.

A capitol police report shows David Evans, a staff member in house speaker Tim Jones office, left the gun on top of a toilet paper dispenser in a stall Friday morning.

The gun had one hollow point bullet in the chamber and six others in the clip.

State representative Stacey Newman of St. Louis says she is livid.

She says it could have had disastrous consequences had the capitol been full of school children and other visitors.

It is legal for lawmakers and their staffers to carry their guns in the capitol if they have a conceal carry permit.
