ST. PETERS, MO (KTVI)-- The city of St. Peters is considering a second proposal for a new cell phone tower that some don`t want in their neighborhood.

It has been a very active night in St. Peters, a lot of items on the agenda including a controversial vote.

The first order of business was to swear in new Police Chief Jeffery Finkelstein.

There were also appointments of captains, lieutenants, sergeants and a new officer. They also honored a veteran who had just received a purple heart after 40 years.

Another key item is a vote on a new cell phone tower on Jungermann Road. Some nearby business owners are ok with the build, while homeowners say it’s an eyesore with health hazards.

Governor Jay Nixon recently signed Bill 331making tower installations easier for companies.

Originally the proposed cell tower was denied because it was close to a daycare and other issues. The builder for the St. Charles tower moved the location and resubmitted for approval.
