Dr. Phil Tweet asks “is it OK to have sex” with drunk girl

(CNN) — He’s as much a medical doctor as Dr. Who and Dr. Demento.

Now Dr. Phil has incurred the wrath of the Internet after a tweet posted on his verified Twitter account asked: “If a girl is drunk, is it OK to have sex with her? Reply yes or no to @drphil #teensaccused “

It was quickly deleted.

CNN was unable to reach the Dr. Phil show late Tuesday night, but in a response to a question posed by our partner Buzzfeed, the show said: “This tweet was intended to evoke discussion leading into a very serious show topic. It was not intended to be taken lightly. It’s based upon a recent news story, hence the #teensaccused label.”

But the damage was done.
