DOWNTOWN ST. LOUIS (KPLR)-The return of Rams football to the Edward Jones Dome brings big changes this season in security.  The National Football League has implemented a new league-wide bag policy that limits the size and type of bags that may be brought into all stadiums.

The NFL says the new rule is a way to provide a safer environment for the public and speed up fan entry into stadiums. The changes were already being discussed prior to the Boston Marathon explosions, which led the NFL to make a final decision.

New 2013 Bag Policy

While the NFL strongly encourages fans to not bring any type of bags, outlined below are the bags or packages that are permissible:

  • Bags that are clear plastic, vinyl or PVC and do not exceed 12” x 6” x 12.”
  • One-gallon clear plastic freezer bag (Ziploc bag or similar).
  • Small clutch bags, approximately the size of a hand with or without a handle or strap, no larger than 4.5” x 6.5.”
  • An exception will be made for medically necessary items after proper inspection.

Also, heads up fans.  Broadway between Cole Street and Convention Plaza will be closed two hours and 30 minutes prior to all Rams games and one hour after the conclusion of the game.
