ST. LOUIS, MO (KTVI) - Smack dab in the middle of the most volatile section of the world an explosion of violence.  Soldiers in Egypt open fire and kill those protesting the military coup that removed a democratically elected leader. The president has seen enough.

"The United States strongly condemns the steps that have been taken by Egypt`s interim government and security forces.  We deplore violence against civilians." said President Barack Obama.

Uh oh, he not only condemns what`s going on in egypt, he strongly condemns it; deplores it even. Oh, the Egyptian government is in trouble now.

"This morning we notified the Egyptian government that we are canceling our biannual military exercises."  said President Barack Obama.

What?  The Egyptian military kills hundreds of its own people and our response is to cancel a play date?  There has got to be more.

"I`ve asked my national security team to asses the implications of the actions taken by the interim government and further steps we may deem  as necessary." said President Barack Obama.

Assess the implications? Dead people, that`s the implications. What about the 1.5 billion we give Egypt in military aid?  If we deplore the killing of civilians why pay for the tanks, guns and ammo that is doing the killing? Why don`t we just cut off funding? Because we give them the money and then they buy their military hardware from the American military industrial complex. it is the way politicians pay back the defense industry for their campaign payoffs. That is the relationship the president really cares about.
