ST. LOUIS, MO (KPLR) - The largest book party in St. Louis needs funding to kick off in late September. There are only 9 days left to make this party happen. Heather Winsby, is the chairperson for this event which aims to reach 200-300 local children in need. Nationwide, more than 100 million free books will be given to disadvantaged children. Locally 85,000 new books are handed out.
This First Book-St. Louis project encourages reading while helping to raise funds for books. The First Book-St. Louis is turning to all of you with a love of reading and who know how important literacy is to succeed in life. In exchange for your contributions, they're offering some fun perks including a First Book-St. Louis 15-year commemorative market bag and an invitation to our Annual Holiday Breakfast in December.
Your contribution will help them reach 200-300 children and provide them a fun morning of story time, a snack, and best of all at least 3 books they can pick out and take home to keep. Helping them begin a library of their own at home gives them a great start to becoming a better reader!
