At least 100 workers from showed up at the McDonald’s on South Broadway to protest what they call unfair wages. About 30 protesters showed up at a McDonald’s on West Florissant at around 4pm. There was a police presence to make sure nothing got out of hand. The walk-off happened in six other cities as well.
They’re demanding a pay increase, up to $15 an hour, but the right to unionize. Workers walked off the job back in May over the same issues.
A coaltion of labor, community and clergy groups formed the ‘Fast Food Forward’ campaign to raise awareness about wages of restaurant employees.
