(KPLR) – This week's edition of The Pulse Of St. Louis is about federal furloughs and the impact on the St. Louis region, specifically Scott Air Force Base (Scott) in St. Clair County, Illinois. Some 4,500 civilian employees at Scott are being forced to take eleven days off without pay because of the federal sequester that went into effect at the beginning of the year. The furloughs are having a major impact on the St. Louis region, which will lose millions of dollars during a three month period from July to September.
