Police: Ivan Mullenix Sr. Stabbed To Death By Wife

ST. LOUIS COUNTY (KTVI) - St. Louis County Police say a wealthy area businessman was stabbed to death by his wife early Thursday morning.

Police have identified the victim as Ivan L. Mullenix, Sr., 76.  His  69-year-old wife, Mary A. Mullenix, was charged with one count of Murder in the Second Degree, one count of Armed Criminal Action, and one count of tampering with physical evidence.

Mary A. MullenixAccording to officials, the incident happened in the couple's home on Country Life Acres Street, located in a upscale, gated community just off Clayton Road.

Town and County Police say they were called around 1 a.m.  When they arrived, they found Mullenix dead inside the home.

Tim Clark, a neighbor said, "I don’t know them I’ve had a couple discussions with her and I wouldn’t know him if I saw him."

Ivan Mullenix was a successful real estate developer. There was trouble in the family a few years ago.  Mullenix’s three adult sons were involved in the family real estate company.  They sued their father concerning control of the business.  The suit was later dismissed.

Police say they’ve been to the home before but won’t say why or how many times.

A $500,000 bond has been issued.
