NEW YORK, NY (WPIX) - George Zimmerman was acquitted of all charges in the use of a firearm in the death of Trayvon Martin. A Juror revealed that she believed his claim of self defense when he fired a handgun that he was licensed under Florida to carry. And let me tell you, you will never meet a more staunch believer in the fundamental precepts of the second amendment and the right to carry a concealed firearm than yours truly.

That being said, let this be a lesson to you as to what can happen when you elect to exercise that right even when you are right. You elevate the potential for disaster. Zimmerman may have been legally justified but look what happened. A young man is dead, a family devastated and Zimmerman risked life imprisonment for what? If he hadn't elected to carry a firearm that night he probably would have survived the fight, he would have been just as banged up but a young man would be alive and he would have avoided a murder charge and now the exile that he's forced to live in.

When you carry a firearm you expose yourself to a new world where run-of-the-mill altercations can escalate into a realm you never intended or anticipated like that. So be very careful. you're not a trained professional, you're not combat shooting qualified. This ain't TV. Comment.
