ST. LOUIS, MO (KTVI)-- A major crime clean-up on both sides of the river gets more than 200 guns off the streets.

The four month undercover investigation also led to about 200 people being charged.

The effort was a partnership between several local agencies that worked to combat high crime in St. Louis and East St. Louis.

The almost 200 people charged had more than 1,700 previous arrests.

Mayor Francis Slay called the effort one of the most significant law enforcement operations in the city in the last decade.
