Strong, fast storms hit St. Louis on Sunday

(KTVI) - A band of thunderstorms is settling southeast towards St. Louis with a strong gust front surging out ahead of the storms in the region that is circled. This surge is creating winds of 40-50 mph as much as 10 minutes ahead of the heavy rain and lightning.

Other storms will likely be developing across the area from the southwest this evening as well. In addition to some gusty winds, flash flooding and intense lightning will be possible just about anywhere as these storms roll through late this afternoon and evening.
