SULLIVAN, MO (KTVI)-- It was a solemn welcome home for a fallen marine. The body of 29-year-old Staff Sergeant Mark Gorzik of Leasburg arrived Wednesday afternoon at Lambert Airport.

Nearly 100 Patriot Guard Riders escorted him to a funeral home in Sullivan, near his hometown.

Gorzik died last Tuesday at Camp Pendleton in California. No word on a cause of death.

He served three tours in Iraq and one tour in Afghanistan.

Hundreds more people lined the streets of Sullivan to pay their respects to Staff Sergeant Gorzik. The patriot guard coordinator said the large turnout of riders was the least they could do to show their support.  Gorzik's uncle, Joe Wood, said the family was overwhelmed by the support and respect shown by the Patriot Guard, local police, and military.
Gorzik's funeral is Saturday.
