ST. LOUIS, MO (KTVI)– St. Louis Mayor Francis Slay announced that the parade would still be in Downtown St. Louis.  But, it would not be on Market Street.  The parade will start at the newly-renovated Central Branch of the St. Louis Public Library, then proceed down Washington Avenue.

Many cities have overhauled plans for their annual large events. Organizers have tightened security since the Boston    Marathon bombings earlier this year.  But, Mayor Slay says the change was not for security purposes.  He said, in the past, the crowds tended to thin out toward the end of the parade route.  The new procession would “more compact”.
